Members of the EGP/Lit SIG gathered for the April SIG social where board games were played. Then, members walked as a group to Kiwi Yogurt to participate in a Read Out and Read fundraiser.
Relay For Life

Members participated in Colleges Against Cancer’s Relay for Life twelve-hour-long fundraiser. There were various games, food, and other activities such as Zumba, Yoga, and an Improv show. Members continued to bond and interact at the biggest philanthropic event on campus.

Members took time to socialize with other teacher candidates who share a common interest in Special Education. It was an opportunity to hear about resources in the community and hear what their classmates are doing to develop themselves further in and out of the classroom.

Members of the EGP/Lit and Play SIGs gathered for a discussion-based social. Members read two articles (“Outdoor Play is Essential to Whole Child Development” and “More Than Just A Game: Yoga for School-Aged Children”) and discussed their thoughts, reactions, and whether they see these trends increasing in elementary classrooms. Following the discussion, members walked as a group to the Reach Out and Read Kiwi Fundraiser.

Members of the EGP/Lit SIG submitted a survey to help us match them with a mentor/mentee prior to the social; pairs were made and revealed at the Meet Your Mentor Social. Once everyone met their mentor or mentee, we walked to Kiwi Yogurt, where we got to know one another over frozen yogurt.
